Horseback Riding

Today was so much fun. We went on our horseback riding tour. Faith had her best horseback trecking adventure ever. We began at a ranch and wound our way along and through the river and then through a small rainforest, stopping at a waterfall area. It was beautiful! They took us up a lower portion of the Sierra Madres and then back through some ranches to their ranch. We then had a great lunch and came back to the hotel where Faith and Dave went swimming again.

We are looking forward to a Jungle Tour tomorrow.

Rained Out

The horse riding got cancelled due to rain last night and swollen rivers, but we spent the day around the hotel. Dave did some snorkeling off our beach and videoed a guy fishing/spearing for octopi. We also were able to go back downtown for another trip to the market and found a few more treasures after a few melt downs from Faith over not being able to get toys she wanted. On our way back to the hotel we stopped off at a taqueria for some tacos and brought them back with us. They were really good.

We are hoping to try the horseback riding tomorrow if it doesn’t rain tonight.

After a pricing mishap and Dave spending $21 at our hotel for something that costs about $5 back home, I think he might have learned a bit of a lesson…ask the price before making the sale! Needless to say, he returned it after quite a bit of huffing and puffing about it. Live and learn! Youtube shot

P.V Downtown

Spent the morning at the pool and then around 3 we went back to the market downtown for dinner. It was really good. We ended up at a restaurant that catered more to the cruise people. We were really looking for a taqueria. It did have good food, but not authentic Mexican. We walked over a bridge into an old pueblo area and up through more markets. It was a great day overall.

We are riding horses tomorrow. Hopefully the rain stays away.

Second Full Day In P.V

It rained all morning, and finally stopped about noon. After swimming and hanging around the pool, we went into town later this afternoon to their market area and the Cathedral of Guadalupe, with cobblestone streets and buildings filled with market stalls (very much like Nassau). Faith found a blue and white embroidered dress and a guitar. Dave bartered for a vase with a beaded iguana he says is perfect for his bar. We also picked dad up a few shirts he asked us to find for him for his upcoming cruise. We didn’t get to spend much time there, so we are going back after siesta tomorrow (3ish). I think we will eat dinner down there and walk their boardwalk (reminds me of Fisherman’s Wharf in SF) and the “old town” pueblo area next to it.

Looks like horseback riding will be Friday and a Jungle tour will be Saturday. I think the dolphin thing will have to be another time. Its probably better though, due to poor weather conditions.

Tami’s Post First Full Day

1st full day and all is well. We had a relaxing day at the pool and on the beach after a truly interesting experience at Walmart…lets just say that the grocery part added to the regular craziness made Hayward and Tracy Walmart look organized! Dave’s spanglish isn’t working all that well…”dos cervesas por favor” does not really help when trying to find a sim card for the phone or asking for a Taxi to please wait. :)

After dinner we took Faith to the kid area to just play on the play structure and then we attended the Kid’s evening entertainment show. She loved it and even went up on stage to play games and dance. Its on video. However, not understanding even english and then being asked what her favorite fruit was in spanish, she answered, “I have new blue” and pointed to a new necklace she just got. The MC then said something about blueberries and moved on.:)

We are hoping to set up the dolphin thing on Wed.and a horseback riding trek for Thurs or Friday and then take a trip to an out door market downtown one day in between. Faith has already nixed the zip line for us…but seems excited about a rock wall they have as a daily activity.

Love Tami, Dave and Faith

PS we have not yet “truly found paradise”, but are still looking!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We have arrived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The plane was over 2 hours late.  Its a nice hotel and the food was pretty good tonight.  Not sure if Faith and Tami will make it without some heat issues, we are trying with lots of Gatorade and water, but its 11:00 at night right now at about 80 degrees and off the chart humidity Tami says!  I think I will be the one who will be taking Faith out during the heat of the day. We Hope to have some fun tomorrow and photo’s to post.
